On the suicide of youth due to recession

Forum of IT Professionals [ForIT] expresses its profound condolences to the family and friends of Arun Kumar who tragically fell prey to the current economic slowdown.

We appeal to all the yet to be employed, employed and learned professionals not to lose hope in these circumstances.

This incident with a death note calling the recession to be the killer comes at a time while there is a lot of turbulence associated with the IT sector. It would be devastating as the dream of joining a job in IT gets shattered and many social commitments have to be met. Fresh graduates in search of job are the one who have been dreaming of a bright future in the industry as their pals. One should not be shattered by these circumstances and will have to live in reality. ForIT pledges to help and support all the yet to be employed people in these dire circumstances.

The employees in the IT industry are already being hit hard by the IT companies by the name of lay-offs; which is adding to the problem of unemployment. There is no grievance addressing mechanism in the industry.

We urge the government to take necessary measures in dealing with this serious situation. There are thousands of engineering colleges with more than a million people graduating from various colleges in India. The government should effectively come out and start counseling centres to avoid such mishaps in the future and announce a concrete plan to provide employment.
