On Tech Mahindra's cost cutting proposals to Satyam
Reject the 5000 Layoff Plan
Forum of IT professionals [ForIT] appeals to the Satyam board to refrain from firing 5000 of its valuable employees as proposed by Tech Mahindra. We also urge the government to step in to secure the employees of Satyam and other IT companies.
We are all aware of the new management's proposal to layoff 5000 employees of Satyam, a decision which is totally unwarranted. For what fault of us should we face this situation? Inspite of pouring out years of sincere and dedicated hard work for the company should we be penalized with these indiscriminate lay offs? For the immense respect, belief and trust we had towards the management, is this what we get compensated with? We never cribbed about the long hours that we spent at office away from our families, then why are we being shown the doors at a time when we are supposed to be treated as a part of this family.
"Behind every lay off, it’s not just an employee alone that suffers but an entire family."
ForIT urges the Satyam Board to reject the proposal made by the Tech Mahindra management and protect the jobs of thousands of its employees.
The Government of India and the Prime Minister had given statements asking Indian Corporates not to go for large scale layoffs and bear in mind the societal obligations in coping with tough times. The government should take all necessary action to secure the jobs of IT employees. The government should ensure that the employees are not forcefully asked to move out of the company.
Exhaustive work hours, internal pressure, succumbing to tests etc. are different ways that are being enforced on the professionals.
IT companies should stop this move in irrational retrenchments while the companies are coming with announcements of still being in profit.
ForIT appeals to all IT professionals to stand united at this time to find a way out of this crisis.
The forum appeals to all IT professionals in all IT companies to stand up and unite against this insecure environemnt being enforced by the managments on thier associates.
