Sabbatical.......a sabotagesabotaging programme... The news of Satyam associates being put on the sabbatical programme vis a vis “Virtual Pool Programme” comes out to be a disastrous measure. This step comes in the background of the assurances by the Minister for Corporate Affairs and the Hon” Prime Minister of India to protect the interests of company and the of its workforce. It is evident that the associates are being made the scapegoats in the name of protecting the company. The initial reports of the company being under huge losses that aired immediately after the turmoil created by Ramalinga Raju proved to be wrong with the Q3 results. It has also further stated that the operating margins were not 3 percent as stated during his confession of fraud. The company made a profit of Rs. 160 crores as announced in the Q3 results. Investors too reacted to the results with enthusiasm, causing the Satyam stock to hit the upper circuit filter on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). It is even in this turbulance that Satyam has received new business orders worth $380 million (Rs 1,800 crore). All this was possible only because of the committed workforce that satyam had has. Making this workforce a scapegoat comes out as a shock which is going to have an adverse impact on the society. For every job in IT there is a are two and half jobs created in the other dependent sectors. This disastrous step by the management will be creating a direct impact on the lives of 25,000 odd employed in the allied sectors. The other impact of the commitments which an associate had, like housing loans, insurance policies, health and education loans of the family members and more, will drag them to bankruptcy, will be driven to a stalemate. We urge the management of the company not to act with opportunism and avoid the creation of such an unrest. We demand the government to stick to its assurances of protecting the company and the workforce. If sending them is the only way out, then the government should come forward and provide an alternative employement to each employee and prevent an unrest. We appeal to all IT professionals to unite and fight for the job security rights and stand by the side of every suffering IT professional. NO to Job Cuts....NO to Retrenchments.......NO to "back door" retrenchemnts..... One for all!! All for one!!!!
